ODESSA - Permian's JV Black and JV White came away victors against Odessa High's junior varsity teams in district action on Monday. JV Black won a close one at Pressley Field, while JV White run-ruled the Bronchos at McCanlies Field.

The Panthers and Bronchos battled through five scoreless innings before Odessa High scored a run in the bottom of the sixth frame.  The two teams combined were limited to five hits while committing five errors.

Back-to-back singles and a hit batter filled the bases for OHS in the sixth inning.  A runner scored on a one-out base hit to centerfield, but Oscar Ramirez was able to throw out the runner trying to advance to third base.  A ground out to Jordan Muschalek at third base ended the threat with Odessa High possessing a 1-0 lead.

JV Black responded in their last at-bat in the top of the seventh frame.  Ramirez was awarded first base after being hit by a pitch, and Ethan Valencia drew a walk to put the potential go-ahead run on base.  A wild pitch allowed the runners to advance to second and third base.  Muschalek hammered a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield, which gave both runners the opportunity to tag-up and advance.  Ramirez scored to tie the game and Valencia now stood on third base with two outs.  Another wild pitch gave Valencia the green light to steal home.  Permian led 2-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Bronchos managed to get two runners on base, but a pair of infield pop-ups and a ground out to Muschalek at third base ended the game with Mojo preserving the one run advantage.  Tucker Tomlinson pitched the complete game - striking out three, walking three, and giving up three hits.  Brian Ramirez and Caden Clinton provided Permian's two base hits.

The Freshmen Panthers continue to build onto what is looking more and more like the makings of a stellar season.  JV White made the Bronchos believers in a five inning 13-2 route at McCanlies Field.

Teo Banks got the start and pitched the complete game - striking out seven, while limiting OHS to three hits and two runs.  In a shaky opening frame, Odessa High's first two batters drew walks.  One run would cross the plate courtesy of a Mojo fielding error.  In the bottom half, Permian's first two base runners got aboard after each got hit by a pitch.  Banks hit an RBI single to plate a run and tie the game 1-1.  The Bronchos picked up another run in the top of the second inning.  SPOILER ALERT... Mojo shutdown OHS hitting and uncorked a barrage of runs the remainder of the game.

The Panthers converted four singles, a double, a pair of walks, and two OHS errors in a nine run assault.  Javi Valenciana hit two RBI singles in the inning, while Banks and Justice Bustos each added a base hit.  Josh Carbajal contributed an RBI double.  Permian sat on a 10-2 lead after just two complete innings.

JV White finished the statement in the bottom of the fourth.  Kendyn Armstrong and Banks led off with back-to-back walks.  Both advanced on a wild pitch and Armstrong scored on a sacrifice bunt by Cade Tschauner.  Bustos followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to green light Banks to tag-up and score.  Valenciana blasted an RBI single to centerfield for the third run in the inning.  Permian's lead was now 13-2.  Odessa High failed to answer in the top of the fifth and Mojo claimed the 10-run rule victory.
