Saturday, March 17, 2018 07:07

ODESSA - Midland Lee entered the Saturday shootout with a 2-0 district record, while Permian looked for its first 2-6A win with an 0-2 mark.  The Panthers were all business in the 11-3 dominating victory over the Rebels at McCanlies Field.  Mojo outplayed Lee in all facets of the game.

guerreroTyler Ramage got the start on the mound for the Panthers and went right to work on Midland Lee's batters. Permian fielders provided a solid defense and sent three of four Rebels back to the bench in short work.

In their first at-bat, Mojo posted a quick two runs behind consecutive base hits from Caden Bedrick, Tanner Adams, and Daniel Enriquez. Permian extended the lead to 3-0 in the second inning. Isaiah Flores led off with a three-bagger to right field. A sacrifice fly by Taylor Sullivan allowed Flores to cross the plate. Manny Guerrero blasted a two-out double to right field, but was left stranded.

The Rebels scored a run in the third inning, and two more in the fourth frame to knot the game at 3-3 after four complete innings.  From there, the Panthers flexed their muscles.  Mojo unleashed back-to-back four-run innings to seal the victory.

Guerrero led off with a walk and advanced to second base after Christian Tschauner put down a beautiful bunt down the first base line.  Bedrick collected a free trip to first to load the bases with no outs.  Adams singled for the Panthers to regain the lead.  Two more runs came on a sacrifice fly to right field by Enriquez.  Seth Higdon added an RBI single to put Mojo up 7-3 after five complete innings.

Sullivan led off with a double to start the bottom of the sixth inning.  Aleck Villa drew a walk, and Guerrero's base hit would again load the bases with no outs.  Permian plated a runner on a Tschauner single.  A sacrifice fly to centerfield by Bedrick extended the lead to 10-3.  A base hit by Adams and an RBI double by Enriquez capped off the scoring at 11-3 heavily favoring the Panthers.  Two flyouts and a groundout by the Rebels ended the game.
