Friday's final district and
season game for Permian was an emotional one for Blanton Garrett, Bryan Munoz,
and their parents. Senior Day had the Panthers hosting the Eagles and
followed suit with most of the way the season has gone. After just five
innings, Abilene High claimed a 14-3 win.
The Panthers didn't fare well
on their final trip to an opponent's field. It took just five innings to
halt the game between Permian and San Angelo Central, with Mojo suffering a 14-0
shutout road loss. PHS will closeout the season at home on April 27.
Permian committed three
errors, which Midland Lee converted into five runs in the opening inning on
Tuesday at McCanlies Field. Zac Autry took over for Jack Wilkins on the
mound, but Mojo still suffered a 12-1 loss.
An error on the shortstop and
a mishandled hit to centerfield resulted in six Bronchos runners
scoring in the fourth inning. OHS added four more in the sixth frame.
Permian was unable to answer in the 12-2 run rule loss.
Mental mistakes and missed scoring opportunities by Permian allowed Abilene High to collect three big innings and cut the game early in the 14-3 season finale held at McCanlies Field on Friday. It was also Senior Day for the Garrett and Munoz families.
